Shin splints medication
Hi, I’m a 22yo male. I have had pain in the shins of both of my legs. I have assumed it to be a case of shin splints as I have increased my physical activity as of late. My right leg suffers the most pain in the posterior shin area when I jog or run.
Can I use Avonac SR 100mg (diclofenac sodium 100mg) as a treatment for this?
Thanks.

Hi, thank you for your question.
This is a general answer based on your question. To get an online consultation please click this link (DoctorOnCall) for further advice.
For your information, Avonac SR 100mg that contain diclofenac sodium 100 mg is a type of painkiller called NSAIDs. However, taking too much of this medication will cause side effects such stomach ulcer.
I would like to advice to to get your knee examined for any serious injury so that it can be treated accordingly. You knee pain can be due to your increased physical activity or sprain, however, it is best to make sure it wasn’t due to tear muscles or tendon or other things that can worsen without treatment.
Please give you knee and leg a rest and get it examined before continuing with strenuous excercise or heavy activity. You can also speak with us online via this link (DoctorOnCall) and get you medication delivered to you.
