Very yellow urine -

I am a woman in my mid 50s. I drink the right amount of water and am not dehydrated but my urine is very yellow all the time. what could be some of the causes and could it be serious? I have had my gallbladder removed less than a year ago too, would that be a cause?

Greetings! Thank you for your questions.

First and foremost, we truly understand your concerns regarding your symptoms and other health problems you might be facing. For your information, normal urine color ranges from pale yellow to deep amber. Pigments and other compounds in certain foods and medications can change your urine color.

Seek medical attention if you have:

  • Visible blood in urine: Bloody urine is common in urinary tract infections and kidney stones. These problems usually cause pain. Painless bleeding might signal a more-serious problem, such as cancer.
  • Dark or orange urine: If the urine is dark or orange, particularly with pale stools and yellow skin and eyes, it means liver might be malfunctioning.

From your complaints. the phrase “very yellow” colour is very subjective, physical evaluation is required for an accurate diagnosis. However, most of the case, it is not caused by serious problems.
