Casual contact day 6 rtk test accuracy, with some symtoms

Hi

I’m being flagged as casual contact in my sejahtera. I haven’t been exposed to anyone that’s positive case. All I I was buy food and eat alone and visit suppliers for collection of goods. Mostly touch and go, never stayed to mingle with anyone except my own family. There is no positive case in my office as well.

On day 5 I developed runny nose and headache. Does feel like normal flu to me as I experienced some discomfort on my adenoids and phlegm in that area. Mild lethargic, no fever, no shortness of breath, spo2 range from 94 to 98 depending if I’m in door or outdoor, no cough except when phlegm drops to my throat it irritates and cough a little. I do feel the phlegm are dripping down into my throat as we speak, mostly what I feel is behind my nose that area seems to be inflamed. This is my 2nd time casual contact.

Day 6 I went for rtk test just in case, result is negative. Day 7 today I went for pcr test just to re confirm. Result only available tomorrow.

What else I should be doing at the moment ?

Greetings! Thank you for your questions.

For your information, as a casual contact, you are considered to be at low risk of contracting COVID-19. You are unlikely to get infected just from having been in the same place with patient with COVID-19. You are a casual contact if you have been within only two meters of someone with COVID-19 for less than 15 minutes.

Recent studies revealed that between 5% – 80% of the COVID-19 cases may be asymptomatic, which means they exhibit no signs and symptoms of the same. This group of people, therefore, tends to spread COVID-19 without really knowing it. That’s why it is important to monitor any symptoms within 10 days or during quarantine. Although at this moment, it is not compulsory for a casual contact to do swab test in Malaysia, you must get tested as soon as possible if you develop any symptoms. Symptoms to look out for include:

  • fever (37.5°C or higher) or history of fever (night sweats, chills)
  • cough
  • shortness of breath (difficulty breathing).
  • runny nose
  • loss of taste
  • loss of smell
  • sore throat
