Fly during pregnant

I’m 28years old currently pregnant 9 weeks. I have flight on this Friday morning to India…can I fly during this moment and what are those do and don’t should I follow

Based on the above information, we understand your concern about the problem you’re having. For your information, air travel is considered safe if you do not have any pregnancy complication. In fact, a pregnant woman of up to 36 weeks is considered safe to fly if she does not have any complication.

To ensure the best flying experience, a pregnant woman is recommended to:

  • Consult your obstetrician to know if your pregnancy is safe, to know your estimated due date (EDD)
  • Adequate hydration/ drink lots of water
  • Wear loose clothing
  • Bring any over-the-counter medication that might be useful
  • Update your vaccination status
  • Consider buying travel insurance and other travelling necessities that might be beneficial in case of emergency
  • Book a seat next to an aisle
  • Walk or stretch during long flights every 2 hour or so
  • Avoid spicy foods, carbonated drinks

Please note that you also need to visit emergency unit as soon as possible in case of:

  • vaginal bleeding
  • sensations of contractions or abdominal pain
  • water breaks
  • combination of headaches, eyesight problems: seeing spots or changes, swelling of face and hands
  • Vomiting, diarrhoea
  • Ankle, calf or thigh: warmth, tenderness, pain, sudden swelling, reddish, pain during standing or walking
