Knee making loud crunching sound without pain

Hi Dr, I’m a 20yo female and lately I can hear both my knee making ‘crunching’ sound frequently when I move around (starting from I stand up, it starts to sound and every steps of my walk, it sounds too) . No pain. No swollen. Just 'clicking ’ sound. Hence I would like to inquire about the right suppliment and the right dose for a 20yo person. Thank you.

Hi and thank you for asking us here at DoctorOnCall.

Through the question and statement you gave on the above section, i completely understand your concern over this matter. For your information there are a few causes for clicking sound of the knee, which are:

  • cavitation is the burst of tiny air bubbles in the joint fluid
  • meniscus tear could happen if you feel some pain with the clicking sound
  • osteoarthritis if you’re experiencing severe pain with the clicking sound

Clicking sound is considered normal unless it is accompanied with pain then i strongly advise you to seek treatment with your physician.

You can try keeping a healthy body with exercise, cut down on sugar and keep a healthy body weight if you’re worried about your joints. I advise you to consult with a physician or your pharmacist at your local clinic as certain supplements are not suitable for certain people. It is best for you to find the most suitable and specific supplement for your body.
