Hi i suffer from mild scoliosis. Went to doctor years ago and they said no need to do anything/surgery since i already aged and it will stop growing (i was around 23y/o that time) now i am 27. Just want to know is it safe for me to do heavy workout (like lifting weight) and can i wear waist trainer/corset or it it dangerous for my back. I’m a female btw.
Hello and thank you for addressing your concern.
According to your statement, we believe a thorough clerking, investigation and examination needs to be done by us first in order to clearly understand the degree and severity of your current backbones condition. Correspondingly, the given information by you might only touch the surface of what is truly important.
Although there have been numerous debates on the safety concerns of the impact weight lifting might have on scoliotic patients, I would argue that you postpone such activities until having few sessions with the right orthopaedics or certified doctor in the bones and muscles field.
However, I understand that building the core muscles of the spine is nonetheless crucial to ensure future health and reduce as many setbacks that scoliosis would elicit. These are the exercise currently recommended that you would follow to gain those core muscles
With that being said I hope you would take the extra initiative to contact our doctor using this link (DoctorOnCall) in order to maximise the help that you can get.
