Fractured 3 mid bone of my right foot

Hi, I’m a 27yo men, i fractured 3 mid bone of my right foot after I got hit by a motorcycle going against the traffic. My question is, how long does it take for the bone to reattach/grow for me to be able to walk like before? Also, the hospital use a plaster cast for the fractured area, can i request to change it to an Aircast during my next appointment?

Hello, thank you for your enquiry.

For your information, a lower limb fracture, the general complete healing takes 12 to 16 weeks. However, weight bearing, walk, is encouraged after 8 to 12 weeks after x-ray revealed a good union to stimulate the bone growth. Nonetheless, the bone healing for your case still need to depends on the severity of the fracture and which bone was involved.

If a normal plaster cast is inconvenient for you, you may request for a fiberglass cast, which is light, thinner, more durable and have colour options. An aircast may not recommend for early stage of fracture as it may not able to sustain a good stable over the fracture site and stability is important for fracture healing.
