Should i still continue using my facial product or should i stop?

My face full of acne now. May I know is there any solution on it? Should i still continue using my facial product or should i stop? Please advise.

  • Hi, thank you for your question. Keeping acne at bay is a very distressing issue. To understand what is going on with your skin, firstly you should know what acne and pimples are. Acne is basically what pops out when your hair follicles mainly on your face, chest and back gets blocked with excess sebum or debris.

  • Using the right combination of products on your face is vital to combat your acne. Always follow the cleanse, exfoliate, tone, serums, moisturize and sunscreen regime. Each of this step, helps in the overall problem. Use cleansers that are non-comedogenic and soap free to ensure that is does not cause a soap film over your skin and block your pores.

  • Soap free also means it won’t dry your skin out. As much as you want excess oil to be gone at the end of your cleansing, you wouldn’t want your natural moisture to be stripped away.

  • If your current cleanser makes your skin feel tight after, it means its drying your skin out. Exfoliate two to three times a week. You can use mild facial scrubs, chemical exfoliators (AHA, BHA, glycolic acid), or a mechanical exfoliator (facial cleansing brushes).

  • After cleansing, it is of extreme importance that you tone because chances are that your face still carries dirt and oil that your cleanser missed. Use serums and spot treatments for your acne and scars. For acne, you can get benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, azelaic acid or tea tree oil.

  • For scars, you can treat your skin with alpha arbutin, vitamin C (ascorbic acid) or lactic acid. These improves the appearance of your scars, texture and tone. Always moisturize your face after cleansing.

  • This is ensures your skin remains hydrated and to not stimulate excess oil production. Sunscreen is important in skincare as this helps you reduce the appearance of your scars and protects it from sun damage and premature ageing.
