Hello and good evening, i’m Abdullah, i had a trauma 7 days ago in the lower left abdominal area by a collision, long story short i had a fluid colliction in that area, and straining in urination. did 3 successive radiographs and made sure all organs are fine and no tear but what i feel is that there is an injury in the lining tissue of the urethra, no bleeding but sever pain during urination which may sometimes prevent the urination itself, but with analgisic i can urinate normally with no pain and no effect on the flow, i can’t use catheters right now as i serve in the military so my question is that if i kept using analgisics and antibiotic will the urethra mend though urine is touching the lining tissue? thanks in advance

Thank you for your questions. The following answers regarding your current queries are just general descriptions due to the limited information provided by you. Click on this link (DoctorOnCall) for a private consultation with our doctors.

First and foremost, we truly understand your concerns regarding your symptoms and other health problems you might be facing. From your complaints, it is less likely that your urethra is damaged as urethra is located from the bottom of your bladder to your tip of your penis, and it is not located at the left abdominal area. What is possible to get injured is ureter or kidney but radiographs have shown organs are all fine.

The biggest possibility is that your urethra got injured is when the hospital catheterized when you are warded. And yes, urethra lining will heal eventually as our body will have its own healing process even though it comes in contact with urine, for your knowledge, urine is composed of 96 percent of water and salts, not germs. Germs will reside in the urine after the urine is excreted and pooled for quite some time. Thus, follow your doctor’s advice and do not strain forcefully while urinating as the speed of flow may damage the lining further.
