Allergic to paracetamol

Hi, I’m 36 years old. Had ovary cancer 8 years back for stage 1 and now is fully recovered. Plus I allergic to paracetamol and ibuprofen too… I will have difficulty breathing and face swallen. In this case am I suitable to take vaccine?

Hello, thank you for reaching out to us.

Based on your explanation, we understand you had ovarian cancer and now in remission. You’re wondering if you’re able to take a vaccine since you are allergic to paracetamol and ibuprofen.

Since we’re unsure of the vaccine you’re planning to take, we will answer this question generally. Usually, before any vaccination, your doctor would asses your health and would only administer a vaccine if you’re in good shape. If you have a history of a severe allergic reaction, your doctor may advise you against taking the vaccination for some time.

However, for Covid-19 vaccine, allergy towards painkillers is not an absolute contraindication for vaccination. Your doctor should weigh the potential risks and benefits before allowing you to take the vaccine.

If you wish to enquire further, please book an online consultation with our doctors.
We hope our answer has been helpful. Thank you.
