Co-worker having all the symptoms of covid-19

I have a co-worker who’s having all symptoms of covid-19 such as coughing, fever, diarrhea etc. She just come back from Korea last month. But she refused to go have a medical checkup, my company wouldn’t take any action about that. What should I do?

Hello!

Thank you for your question. For your information, according to WHO the common symptoms of COVID-19 infection are:

  • Fever (more than 37.5 degrees celcius)
  • Fatigue
  • Cough
  • Aches and pains
  • Sorethroat
  • Headaches
  • Shortness of breath

Based on your symptoms that your co-worker is experiencing, she is advice to answer the quiz on Risk Assessment for COVID-19 to evaluate your health status in regards to this disease. After completing this quiz, she will be classified into several categories.

Besides COVID-19 infection, her presenting symptoms can be caused by other health problems such as:

  • Other bacterial or viral infection
  • Asthma
  • Allergic Rhinitis
  • Pneumonia
  • Tuberculosis
  • COPD
  • Food poisoning
  • Gastritis
  • Food intolerance like spicy food, lactose intolerant, etc.

As a colleague, you can work with other friends to advice her to meet doctor. Explain to her calmly that she may impose risks to others and there is no harm to stay assure that she is free from the disease.
