Covid19-Become category B after 10days in contavt with a tested positive patient

Today I just got a call from my aunty saying that she is tested covid 19 positive.

My last physical contact with her is on 23/2/21 which is 10days ago from today. I am now a close contact in Category B and is supppsed to take my swab test tomorow. 10 days ago, that is the only time we got contact when she came to our house.

I have been experiencing on/off mild sore throat and coughing even one week before I meet her until now.

My question is, is the possibility for me to be covid positive after 10days of direct contact with a positive patient given that I have symptoms like mild sore throat and mild coughing?

Thank you.

Thank you for your question.

We understand your worries especially with the close contact with positive symptoms of COVID-19. For your information, you can still be positive after 10 days of close contact with positive COVID-19 person as the incubation period can be up to 14 days. But nothing can be confirmed unless you take the test.

Additonally, WHO listed common symptoms for COVID-19 infection as follows:

  • Fever (more than 37.5 degrees Celcius)
  • Fatigue
  • Cough
  • Aches and pains
  • Sore throat
  • Headaches
  • Shortness of breath

According to the Ministry of Health, close contact refers to either:

  • Health care-associated exposure, including providing direct care for 2019-nCoV patients, working with health care workers infected with 2019-nCoV, visiting patients or staying in the same close environment of a 2019nCoV patient.
  • Working together in close proximity or sharing the same classroom environment with a with 2019-nCoV patient
  • Traveling together with 2019-nCoV patient in any kind of conveyance
  • Living in the same household as a 2019-nCoV patient
