Fungal acne , folliculitis or perioral dermatitis

I’m woman in my 20s. I was having my worst breakout last year due to suddenly change in skincare products. my chin filled with white/yellow pus that are not itchy but i could feel the flare around the area. It almost clear in 3 weeks but as expected it came back and now kind of starting affected my nose now I’m scared I’m having folliculitis. I went to family clinic and was prescribe with steroid and oral antibiotic which could worsen the disease. I’ve heard mostly cases of acne on chin area, the use of antibiotics only fix the inflammation and it would still come back apparently. I just want to know what kind of skin condition that i had what products or food should i use and avoid. I’m willing to go other test like allergy testing first then antibiotic as my last choice. What kind of test that dermatology provide in my case?

Dear miss, thank your for your question.

Your concern is about how can you treat your acne without antibiotics. Is that correct?
We will try to help you.

For your information, inflamed and pus-filled acne is most likely due to bacterial infection. Therefore treatment with antibiotics, either topical or oral need to be prescribed most of the time to clear the infection.

While allergy testing can help you avoid things that you are allergic to, most of the time acne is not caused by an allergic reaction. They are mostly caused by clogged pores, oily skin and hormones.

I would advice you to talk to our doctor online and if necessary we can refer you to a dermatologist so that she can advice you on what is the best treatment for you.

Hope this helps.

Thank you.
