I Am On My 7th Month Of Pregnancy

Hi doctor! I am on my 7th month of pregnancy with my second child. Sometimes I feel my tummy keeps on contracting once in a while but I can still feel the baby’s movement. Should I visit my doctor?

Hey and good morning. Cheers for letting me know the question. Congratulations on your pregnancy! It is most likely that you are experiencing a Braxton Hicks contractions and the baby kick suggested that your baby is in the healthy condition and can’t wait to see her mum.

Usually the Braxton hicks contractions occurred in early pregnancy period, but it is also can occurs after the pregnancy goes on. Braxton Hicks is the English doctor who discovered the contractions somewhere in 1872. As the pregnancy goes on, the Braxton hicks contractions will occur more frequently.

However, sometimes Braxton Hicks contractions are hard to compare from early signs of preterm or true labor, so please keep it safe and please do not try to make the diagnosis by yourself. If you still not in the 37 weeks but you experiencing a regular contractions, or if you have any of the signs or symptoms of preterm labor such as abdominal cramping, vaginal bleeding, vaginal discharge, lower back pain and feels pressure on the pelvic area, please report it to your doctor immediately.

Braxton hicks contractions are also known as the false labor. By the time you reach a couple of weeks before your due date, it is likely that your cervix has begin to widen and ripen. The cervix usually will soften up in preparation for delivery of the baby. Contractions around this period or time can get a lot more intense and they become more frequent, and they might cause discomfort to you.

Braxton hicks contraction can really happen at any time but especially during the night time or when you have a full bladder or during the physical activity or during the sexual intercourse.
