Hi there and I appreciate your kind query. Knee pain or knee discomfort is one of the most common complications of being obese or overweight. If you are among the millions of people who experience chronic knee pain, even a small weight reduction can help reduce pain and lower the possibilities of developing a condition called osteoarthritis (OA).
Those extra kilograms can increase the stress and pressure on your knees. That stress can cause ongoing pain and can lead to other complications such as osteoarthritis (OA). Osteoathritis (OA) is a wear and tear condition where the joints in our body will wear off after we have use it for prolonged period of time or if there is an extra pressure and stress that have been applied on the joint itself. This is due to the inflammation process that occurs on the joint and the friction between cartilages at the joint can cause pain.
A study has been tracked 240 overweight and obese patients who had knee pain and has osteoarthritis. Those who lost at least 10 % of their body weight has improved in a number of ways such as they reported significantly having less joint pain, had better knee movement and function, were able to walk further in a 6 minute test, and had reduced inflammation and bone on bone friction as well.
It is good to aware that the ideal BMI for adult person is between 20 to 25 while 25 to 30 is considered overweight. Try to reduce your weight and make some targets over a period of time. It will significantly improved and helps with your knee pain, I believe. Good luck!
