On 5 March 2020, I visited Melawati Mall. That was before the news viral about one visitor that is covid19-positive visited the mall on 2 March 2020. On 7 March, I started to have symptoms like short of breath and cough. No fever. Today, almost 2 weeks after I had the symptoms, I still have the symptoms of short of breath and cough. Should I go to the clinic or hospital to get a health check or not?

Note: I was a TB patient in 2016. Cough blood. Warded and blood transfused. Recovered after 8 months of taking TB medication.

Greetings!

Thank you for your question. The virus is not able to survive outside of a host for more than 24 hours. Hence, you may not obtain COVID-19 from the mall. However, you are encouraged to answer the quiz on Risk Assessment for COVID-19 to evaluate your health status in regards to this disease. After completing this quiz, you will be classified into several categories.

Besides COVID-19 infection, symptoms of cough and shortness of breath can be caused by other health problems such as:

You may visit the clinic or hospital since shortness of breath is a serious symptom. You may consult a MOH doctor by clicking Ask Doctor at the Ministry of Health website (COVID-19 Portal) to ask any health issues related to COVID-19 starting from 8.30 am to 5.00 pm.

After 5.00 pm till 12.00 am, please direct your enquiries to our DoctorOnCall website at this link https://www.doctoroncall.com.my/tanya/.
