PCOS, Ovasitol, Hereditary breast cancer risk

Hi, I am 34 y/o, was diagnosed with PCOS and submucosal fibroid in 2017, had them removed in 2018 and got pregnant in 2019. I have been gaining weight rapidly in 2015-2017 so when my gynae did a Transvag ultrasound, showing polycystic ovaries it all made sense. Due to my regular period, my fibroid was the one I was trying to manage at the time. As the title suggest, I have a family history of breast cancer (my mother and grandmother) and has been on regular checkups for the past two years with normal outcome, just a benign cyst on the same spot for two consecutive years and I am breastfeeding at the moment. I am interested in start taking Ovasitol as I am easily tired, my anxiety level is high most of the time and I cannot lose weight as my cravings are intensified especially when I am tired (it’s a catch 22 situation). I have read that it helps especially with PCOS symptoms but was wondering if due to breast cancer risk, should I or should I not take it? Thank you

Hi and thank you for your question,

From your statement, you are wondering whether taking the Ovasitol supplement might be best for you. We will try to help you with this matter.

For your information, Ovasitol is a supplement that contains both Myo-Inositol (MI) and D-Chiro-Inositol (DCI). Both of these components are found to influence hormonal balance and osmoregulation of the body. Although the supplement has been marketed to improve insulin sensitivity, restore hormone balance and positively associated with PCOS, taking the supplement on a daily basis require direct consultation from a doctor.

This is to ensure proper risk-benefit evaluation and side-effect have been taken into account prior to its usage.
