Sore throat and cough since 3 days
Hai Dr. I’m 24 years old women who is taking care of mini market. Since last 3 days,I’m having sore throat and dry cough. Something a bit hard to breathe. But there’s no fever (around 36.7 C) and no flu. I went at a private clinic yesterday who told me tat my throat is not worse and gave me antibiotic and cough syrup. Is there is possible of me getting covid-19 and should I went for the test or just quarantine at home and shop?

We understand your worries especially with the development of symptoms indicative but not exclusive of COVID-19.
For you information, WHO listed common symptoms for COVID-19 infection as follows:
- Fever (more than 37.5 degrees celcius)
- Fatigue
- Cough
- Aches and pains
- Sorethroat
- Headaches
- Shortness of breath
However, as you may already aware, these symptoms are not specific to COVID-19 but can be presented in other conditions such as in common flu and other infections by bacteria or other viruses.
Besides COVID-19, recurrent sarethroat, cough and difficulty breathing can be due to various
- influenza
- pneumonia
- anemia
- asthma
Nevertheless, we still need to assess your risk of COVID-19 infection.
