  • Good morning and thanks for your question. Tinea cruris, it is commonly known as a jock itch, it is a type of fungal infection of the skin. It belongs to a group of fungal skin infections named tinea. Like any other fungal infections, jock itch is caused by a mold like structure, which are well known as dermatophytes.

  • These microscopic fungi colonise on the skin and on the nails and hairs. They are typically causes no harm, but they can divide quickly and cause infections when they’re allowed to grow in warm and moist areas. That is why these rash usually develops on the skin surfaces around the inner thighs, groin, and buttocks. I’m sorry to hear the situation that you are in with. It’s the type of itch you should not scratch especially like you said in public. It is a common conditions especially for men athletes.

  • That is how it got the name. But, you do not have to involve in a sport to get it and you do not have to be a man. Female and women can get this problem too. Tinea cruris is a form of ringworm. It loves to live in warm and moist places on our body. Those who sweat a lot, overweight people, or have a skin diseases called eczema are tend to get it. Symptoms of jock itch include:
-Itching and burning sensation on the affected area
-A red, circular and scaly rash with raised edges
-Cracking and flaking of the skin
    -The skin gets peels easily
If you have any problem, do inform your local doctor. Good luck!
