Will there be false positive for post covid patient to take test again?

Hi good day, I would like to enquire about covid test. Recently my mom’s colleague has been detected positive. My mom is a post-covid patient, she got detect in the mid of January this year. May I know if she conducted PCR TEST, will there be the possibility of false positive? As when she was detected, the doctor told her that the virus would stay in her body for 3 months and she will remain positive for 3 months. So how do I ensure the report of the new PCR test is correct?

Thank you for your question.

First and foremost, we truly understand your concerns regarding health problems you mother might be facing. Normally, for recovered patient from COVID-19 infection, it is not compulsory to do the second swab test. Most patients who have recovered still remain showing positive results over a long period of time, even after they are confirmed to have recovered. On top of that, about 30% to 40% of people will still test positive at three weeks, but that doesn’t mean they are contagious that entire time. Nevertheless, it can take weeks to months to test negative after testing positive for COVID-19.
