Does airpurifier can help reduce the risk of pneumonia or tubers?

Hello if i installed airpurifier, does it help to reduce the risk of tuberculosis or pneumonia from spreading?

Hello, thank you for your enquiry.

For your information, both tuberculosis and pneumonia are lower respiratory tract infectious disease causes by bacteria that are transmitted airborne such as when coughing, sneezing, or talking, spewing nasal and throat secretions into the air. Having a close contact and staying within enclosed environment with the patient increases the risk of the transmission.

There is no sufficient scientific evidence available to show that air purifier can remove or filter the bacteria in the air, hence the risk of having an infection remain questionable. Yet air purifier is quite efficient in filtering dust, dander, pollen, mold and other common allergens in the home. You may need to compare a few different brands and model, and choose the best for your needs.

Meanwhile, wearing facemask and practice a good personal hygiene, keep distance from those who suspected to have such infection is a practical way to prevent from spreading of the disease.

Still, if there is anyone who suspected to have symptoms of tuberculosis or pneumonia, it is highly recommended to present to hospital for proper treatment and better outcome. Some of them may require to quarantine to prevent spreading of the disease.

Thank you, we hope our answer has been helpful.
