Hey and good morning to you. Thank you for submitting your question. I guess you have a lot to explain with regards to your situation there. Getting pregnant or getting concieve happens when a male's sperm fertilises a female's egg. For some females this happens fast, but for others it can take a little bit longer.

Out of every hundred couples trying for a baby, eighty to ninety will get pregnant within one year period.

To understand pregnancy and conception, it helps to know about the man and woman sexual organs, and to understand how a female's monthly menstrual cycle and periods act. The menstrual cycle is counted from the 1st day of a woman's period which is day 1. Some time after her period she will release the egg or called as ovulation, and then around 12 to 16 days after this she will have her next period.

The average cycle is about 28 days, but can be shorter or longer cycles are normal. You're most likely to have baby if you have sex within a day or so of ovulation process which invloves releasing an egg from the ovary. This is usually about 2 weeks after the 1st day of your last period, if your cycle is around 28 days period.

An egg can lives for about 12 to 24 hours after being released. For pregnancy to occur, an egg must be fertilised by a sperm within this period. Sperm can live for up to 7 days inside a female's body. So if you have had sex in the days before ovulation, the sperm will have had time to go up the fallopian tubes to "wait" for the egg to be released.

It's difficult to define exactly when is your ovulation happens, unless you are currently practising natural family planning.
