Sunolut (Norethisterone 5mg) was taken to delay the period due to some reasons. Would this medicine causes blood clot and if so, is it suitable to take the pills while vaccination ?

Do you know that your immune system plays role in the effectiveness of vaccines?

Hi and thank you for contacting us.

You would like to know the plausibility of Norethisterone causing a blood clot and further wondering whether it is safe to take the pill while having the vaccination. We will try to help you.

For your information, some studies may have found a possible correlation between long term usage of Norethisterone and venous thromboembolism. However, these cases are very rare and would be associated with multiple underlying factors such as a history of blood disorder.

According to the current data, vaccination is safe for women that are using birth control. There has been no interaction found between vaccines and birth control medications. Nevertheless, you can also discuss the benefits and risk of having various vaccination such as COVID-19 vaccination with a doctor in order to further prevent any risk of serious complications.

Therefore, you are encouraged to talk to a doctor online so that we can help you further.

We hope you will be satisfied with our answer.
