My finger was poked by the sugar needle that i stabbed my uncle

I am woman in 19 years old . while waiting to go to university I take care of my uncle, my uncle has a stroke, so every morning I will check my blood pressure, heart rate, sugar, oxygen with body temperature. While I was doing the sugar test, the needle I stabbed my uncle hit my finger … I continued to clean it with an alcohol swap, then when the blood stopped I washed my finger with tap water then I put a little oil in the place where it was poked. I was so scared when i hear that i can maybe have hiv so I wanted to ask what the actually side effects are?

Hello and good afternoon. Thank you for your inquiries.

For your information, the accidental contact of needles between you and your father might be a risk for the spread of blood-borne diseases such as HIV, Hepatitis B/C, Syfilis and Malaria. If your father has never acquired any of the known blood-borne infections, there is no possibility that you will acquire the infection as well. Other side effects includes allergic reactions and bacterial infections contaminated at the needle, but it is not a major concern in your case.

Boost your immune system with a balanced diet and good nutrition.
