Does this mean close contact?

I am 21 years old, I would like to seek for an advise.
Yesterday , I went to my friend place and pass him something urgent (I with my mask on , but he did not), he was fooling around and fake coughing beside me (without mask) we do not have any physical contact , I felt angry and uncomfortable then I left immediately (not more than 15 minutes), I get back to my car sanitised my hand and washed my hand . Then at the night he called me and said one of his friends diagnosed Covid-19 and he had contacted the person the day before.

I have no symptoms and no unwell feelings.
Do I need to get a covid test ?
which category I’m in ?
Is it any possibility I will get covid ?

Good evening and hi, thank you for reaching out to us.

We understand your concern based on your statement. According to the Ministry of Health, close contact refers to either:

  • Health care-associated exposure, including providing direct care for 2019-nCoV patients, working with health care workers infected with 2019-nCoV, visiting patients or staying in the same close environment of a 2019nCoV patient.
  • Working together in close proximity or sharing the same classroom environment with a with 2019-nCoV patient
  • Traveling together with 2019-nCoV patient in any kind of conveyance
  • Living in the same household as a 2019-nCoV patient

Boost your immune system with a balanced diet and good nutrition.

In this case, you are not considered as a close contact since you are not in a direct contact with the patient.

Additonally, WHO listed common symptoms for COVID-19 infection as follows:

  • Fever (more than 37.5 degrees Celcius)
  • Fatigue
  • Cough
  • Aches and pains
  • Sore throat
  • Headaches
  • Shortness of breath

Other than that, COVID-19 screening is usually subjected to patients that have experienced an ongoing fever. Although the criteria may change according to the situation, it is best that you seek immediate help from the nearby clinic or hospital as soon as possible. For the time being, we advise you to monitor your health and symptoms. If you developed a fever or any symptoms mentioned above, please seek medical attention immediately.

We would also encourage you to answer this quiz on Risk Assessment for COVID-19 to evaluate their health status in regards to this disease. After completing this quiz, you will be classified into several categories. Further instructions will be given at the end of the quiz. Please act accordingly.

Occasionally you might be strongly advised to do a COVID-19 screening and meanwhile to maintain physical and social distance between close friends and family members. You may also click on this link to directly request a COVID-19 screening test.

But if you want to seek a second opinion, you may try to contact the Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC). Other than that, do practice good hand hygiene and normalize wearing face mask in public.
