Hello and thanks for the questions. In your question it is stated that you are currently on an anti hypertensive agents which is Atacand, I presume it has been prescribed because you do have a high blood pressure. We going to discuss a few steps that can be done to help with hypertension apart from your medication list.
While blood pressure is best control through the diet or style of eatingbefore it reaches the stage of hypertension, there is a few range of treatment options. Lifestyle adjustments are the commonly first line treatment for hypertension.
Diet- This so far is the most vital steps in patient with a high pressure pressure. Try to avoid salty foods and avoid putting too much salts in your daily meals. I know it is hards especially with all finger licking Malaysian dish, but bear with me.
Regular physical exercise - Your GP may recommend that patients with hypertension engage in 30 minutes or half an hour of moderate intensity, dynamic, aerobic exercise. This for example can include walking, cycling jogging, or swimming on 5 to 7 days per week.
Stress reduction- Avoiding stress is vital, or you can develop strategies for managing unavoidable stress or emotional changes that can help with blood pressure control.
Avoid using alcohol or drugs- Consuming alcohol, drugs, and even unhealthy eating to cope with stress will add to hypertensive problems
Avoid smoking- Smoking can raise blood pressure and increase risk for another disease such as stroke, lung cancer, heart attack and many more. By giving up smoking will prevent the risk of hypertension, heart conditions, and other health problems.
Best of luck!
