Pain above eye and migrain

I have pain in my eyelets and severe pain just above my eye
got migraines last night but it’s subsided

Hi there. Thank you for the question. It is apparent that you are worried about your condition. As you have mentioned, you are experiencing pain on your eye area which can also be other type of headache.There are many typesof headaches. It is important to identify which type of heachache you are experiencing.

Firstly there is tension-type of headache, these are the most common type among adults and teens. This type of headache can cause mild to moderate pain. It comes and go over time. They usually have no other symptoms. You can treat this type of headache with pain-killers such as non-steroidal anti inflammatory drugs such as aspirin.

Secondly there is migraine which can cause intense headaches that are often described as pounding, throbbing pain. This kind of headache can last from 4 hours to 3 days and usually happen one to four times a month. Along with the pain, there can be other symptoms, such as sensitivity to light, noise, or smells, nausea or vomiting, loss of appetite and upset stomach or belly pain. It is important to avoid the triggers which can cause migraine.

On the other hand, there is cluster headache which is the most severe type of headache. It causes intense burning or piercing pain behind or around one eye. It is usually throbbing or constant and the pain can be so bad that most people with cluster headaches can’t sit still. On the side of the headache, the eyelid usually droops, eye reddens, pupil gets smaller, there will be tearing and the nostril on the affected side becomes blocked. This kind of headache can lasts from 2 weeks to 3 months with each episode lasting for 15 minutes to 3 hours. Hence it is advisable to consult a doctor and find out about your condition so you will be able to treat your condition effectively.
