One of my nephew’s school teacher got infected by covid. Should i send my nephew to do a test as well? Or should we just do a self quarantine at home?

Greetings!

We understand your worries especially with the development of symptoms indicative but not exclusive of COVID-19.

For you information, WHO listed common symptoms for COVID-19 infection as follows:

  • Fever (more than 37.5 degrees celcius)
  • Fatigue
  • Cough
  • Aches and pains
  • Sore throat
  • Headaches
  • Shortness of breath

From your complain above, we advise you and your nephew to go to Coronavirus testing center nearby to get tested. If you or your nephew have any of the symptoms above, make sure to self-quarantine for two weeks.

However, it is difficult to distinguish coronavirus infection from other health problems that manifest almost similar symptoms. Thus, you are encouraged to answer the quiz on Risk Assessment for COVID-19 to evaluate your health status in regards to this disease. After completing this quiz, you will be classified into several categories with appropriate steps that should be taken. This initiative is to reduce crowd coming to the hospital for screening in fear of coronavirus infection as well as to avoid you going out of the house unnecessarily.

You may consult a MOH doctor by clicking Ask Doctor at the Ministry of Health website (COVID-19 Portal) to ask any health issues related to COVID-19 starting from 8.30 am to 5.00 pm.

After 5.00 pm till 12.00 am, please direct your enquiries to our DoctorOnCall website at this link https://www.doctoroncall.com.my/tanya/.

I would also like to take this opportunity to remind you to stay put at home and keep the social distancing. With everyone’s cooperation, I hope we can conquer this outbreak before it gets any worse. Thank you.
