Coughing since May 2019

Anonymous Patient 18 days

I have been coughing since 2019, been to a few doctors and have been diagnosed with Nasal Back Flow from my Sinus Condition.

However, after months of being on nasal spray, cough pills, antihistamines and recently a Ventolin Inhaler (after being diagnosed with possible Bronchitis) the cough has not completely end and seems to recur each time after the pills are complete.

What else can I do or be on to stop?

Greetings, thank you for your question.

The answer is a general description of the problem you’re having. Please click on this link (DoctorOnCall) to speak with us.

Based on the above information, we understand your concern about the problem you’re having. For your information, there could be many other reasons to your relapsing cough.

  • Viral infection especially with current influenza outbreak
  • Tuberculosis (especially if you are having dry cough)
  • Asthma (cough has diurnal variation and mostly worsened at night)
  • chronic bronchitis (if you are a smoker or former smoker)

Usually, if you are responding to treatment given by the doctor, the diagnosis is true. Unfortunately, there are conditions like chronic bronchitis that cannot be cured but can be controlled by medication. Thus, this means that you need to rely on the medication to prevent exacerbation. Nevertheless, you have stated that the doctor is still suspecting you to have “bronchitis” and has put you on the treatment. More informations are necessary to identify the actual cause to your problem.
