Hi and thank you for your question,

We truly understand your concern about feeling something abnormal within the throat at the same time finding it very hard to swallow your food, felt that water is sipping out of your throat or gas building up after you drink and while lying down, and causing you to feel scared or having anxiety due to it. You would also like to know whether these symptoms have anything to do with GERD or any other problems.

For your information, GERD can elicit various symptoms such as

  • Burning sensation of the heart
  • Pain in the chest
  • Difficulty in swallowing
  • Vomiting or regurgitation
  • Feeling of lumps in the neck

However, the symptoms that you are experiencing can also be a sign of other more serious condition such as:

  • peptic ulcer disease
  • chronic gastritis

Hence you are also encouraged to talk to our doctor online, so that we can help you further.

We hope you will be satisfied with our answer.
