Hi!I am a 16 years old girl. I am wondering if I have PCOS. There are some symptoms that I have. First, I have many cystic acne especially on my cheeks and forehead. Sometimes, acne will appear in my ear. I have down with acne skin for many years. Now, I am taking doxymycin for on month. Second, I have belly hair but it is not too obvious. In the same time, I noticed that I have like very short or tiny hair on my cheeck. It is so tiny but still contrast than the other part of my face skin. Third, my period is not working regularly. Sometimes, it will happen once a month, or once every 2 months, or once every 3 months. Often, I feel pained at area under stomach. I also have hair loss problem. I am really sorry for making my own assumptions!:disappointed: Can you explain more to me? I just want to get clear skin. Thank you very much Doctor.

Greetings! Thank you for your questions.

First and foremost, we truly understand your concerns regarding your symptoms and other health problems you might be facing. For your information, facial acne breakouts are caused by blocked pores which can be blocked by oil, dead skin, or a bacterial infection. They can be driven by several factors which includes:

  • Excess oil production on sebaceous glands or excessive consumption of oily food (fried in particular).
  • Clogged hair follicles by oil or dead skin.
  • Poor facial hygiene which cause bacterial infection
  • Hormonal factors: excessive secretion of androgens.

We suggest you to do the following:

  • Prevent eating fried food, refined sugars, and fast food.
  • Maintain good facial and general hygiene
  • Clean your bedsheets, towels and anything that comes in frequent contact with your face
  • Prevent spicy food
  • Stay hydrated and moisturize your face sufficiently.

Get that perfect skin with the right skin care.

Regarding PCOS, further information is needed before a diagnosis can be made.
