Dear Doctor, I would like to ask a question: Normally, how many days does it take to recover from cold sores? I have 2 patches of cold sores next to my mouth. Thank you doctor.

Hello and good evening. Thank you for your questions.

For your information, cold sores usually takes up to 10 days to heal and might feel itchy and painful during the healing process. Also, cold sores are highly contagious that might spread within its nearest margins. There are a few ways u can do to reduce the pain or speed up the healing process which are:

  • Use topical cream to ease the pain and burning sensation that you may obtain from your nearest pharmacy.
  • Use antiviral cream to speed up the healing
  • Use cold sore patches that can be obtained from your pharmacy for protection
  • You may use cold compress or ice packs
  • Pain relievers such as ibuprofen if the pain is severe.
  • Eat healthily to obtain nutrients that might contribute in the healing process.

Get that perfect skin with the right skin care.

If all measure fails, you may proceed to meet your nearest doctor to undergo further investigation as for receiving the best treatment for your sores.
