I have been experiencing like a gassy abdominal pain and chest pain since last two weeks. But i do not have sore throat, fever or flue. Is it the symptom of covid-19

I am confused some articles that i have gone through say yes and some say otherwise.

However, thus far i have not been in contact nor near with any of the positive covid-19 person or involve in any social gathering since February 2020.

I have been at home since the lock down period with 5 of my family members.

At this juncture should i go for the test or it is just that i am paranoid. Due to the test fees is also quite expensive thus i shall wait for your advise.

Thank you for your question. According to WHO, the common symptoms of COVID-19 infection are:

  • Fever (more than 37.5 degrees celcius)
  • Fatigue
  • Cough
  • Aches and pains
  • Sorethroat
  • Headaches
  • Shortness of breath

Your contact and travel history and also your symptoms may put you at very minimum risk of having the COVID-19 infection. However, you are encouraged to answer the quiz on Risk Assessment for COVID-19 to evaluate your health status in regards to this disease. After completing this quiz, you will be classified into several categories. You may only need to do a test if the quiz reveals you are a high risk person.

Your symptoms may be caused by:

  • Gastroesophageal reflux disease
  • Peptic ulcer disease
  • Indigestion
  • Gastritis
  • Eating too much fried food

You may consult a MOH doctor by clicking Ask Doctor at the Ministry of Health website (COVID-19 Portal) to ask any health issues related to COVID-19 starting from 8.30 am to 5.00 pm.

After 5.00 pm till 12.00 am, please direct your enquiries to our DoctorOnCall website at this link https://www.doctoroncall.com.my/tanya/.
