I have loss my sense of taste recently start last week

Hi doctor, I am 27 years old, yesterday night I have tested my body temperature via my ear, it show 36.7. And then I felt that I have loss my taste since last week. But I don’t know this sickness is it related to covid19 or not . Please advice me. Thank you

We understand your worries especially with the development of symptoms indicative but not exclusive of COVID-19.

For you information, WHO listed common symptoms for COVID-19 infection as follows:

  • Fever (morea than 37.5 degrees celcius)
  • Fatigue
  • Cough
  • Aches and pains
  • Sorethroat
  • Headaches
  • Shortness of breath

Patients with COVID have reported to lose sense of smell. In a way, smell may affect your sense of taste too.

Apart from COVID-19, loss of sense of taste can be due to multiple health conditions:

  • runny nose
  • allergic rhinitis
  • sinusitis
  • smoking
  • nerve problem
  • dehydration
