BCP 3 weeks postpartum

I’m 22 years old and I just gave birth 3 weeks ago. my baby is currently breastfeeding. I have massive hormonal changes on my skin, acne flaring up all over my face and I want to know what combination pill is suitable for me to use to family plan and to treat my acne in the same time.

Thank you for your questions.

First and foremost, congratulation on your newborn baby.

If you’re planning to choose pill as your contraception method, you’re advised to take progestogen- only pills (POP) since you’re still breastfeeding. However, this pills won’t work on your acne. Only combined contraceptive pills can treat the acne. However, you’re not encourage to take combined contraceptive pills because it may ceased your milk production.
