Covid-19 home quarantine
I have been diagnosed positive for covid-19, I’m on home quarantine day 3 while waiting for KKM’s call. My husband tested negative 2 days ago but now he develops throat irritation and fever. I’m living with senior citizens and one has cancer, what should we do?

Greetings!
Thank you for your question. I understand your concern regarding the COVID-19 outbreak. For your information, the following are recommended guidelines and should be practiced for anyone who is self -quarantined:
• Must always be contactable at all times.
• Always be at home throughout this supervision period.
• Stay in a separate room and use a separate toilet (THIS IS IMPORTANT)
• Limit visitors or guests who come to your home.
• List everyone who comes to visit you.
• Always practice good cough etiquette.
• If symptomatic, always wear a face mask. If not wearing a face mask, cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing and sneezing. Discard used tissues in the trash and WASH HANDS immediately with soap or hand sanitiser.
• Limit your distance with healthy people to at least 1 meter.
• Wear a face mask when leaving the room and avoid associating with others.
• Keep the ventilation of the house in good condition by opening the windows.
• Avoid sharing food and personal care utensils.
Please monitor your husband’s symptoms, and seek for doctor’s help immediately if worsen. Additionally, WHO listed common symptoms for COVID-19 infection as follows:
- Fever (more than 37.5 degrees Celcius)
- Fatigue
- Cough
- Aches and pains
- Sore throat
- Headaches
- Shortness of breath
However, the onset of these symptoms may vary according to different individuals, ranging from few days to about 2 weeks after the virus transmission. On top of that, there were cases of asymptomatic carrier. Those that are able to transmit the virus without having any symptoms or complication of their own.
But if you want to seek a second opinion, you may try to contact the Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC). Other than that, do practice good hand hygiene and normalize wearing face mask in public. You may also click on this link to directly request a COVID-19 screening test.
