I am 21 years old girl and I cannot eat anything that contain sugar or caffeine because my head will hurt so much. I also become so forgetful. Sometimes I forget the thing I said 5 minutes ago and I have difficulties to memorize or focus when study. I also experience hallucinations before sleep. Do I need to do brain scan or something?

Hi and thank you for asking us

Through the question and statement you gave on the above section, i completely understand your concern over this matter. For your information, a brain scan is usually indicated to see if there is:

  • bone abnormalities
  • brain tumor
  • fluid
  • trauma or fracture of the skull
  • hemorrhage
  • stroke

Usually these diseases are accompanied with symptoms that indicates any problems with the brain such, pain, headache, loss of function, numbness of the hand, fainting and etc. If you still worried you can request for a scan to your doctor.

There a few ways to keep your brain healthy such as:

  • exercise regularly. Regular exercise has a decline the chances of getting Alzheimer’s
  • brain exercises. Such as doing puzzles, quizzes, sudoku or reading.
  • get plenty of sleep. Get a good 7-8 hours of sleep. Sleeping allows you to store memories better
  • socially interaction. Being social allows people to decrease chances of getting depression and stress
