Late period after normal delivery
Hi doctor, I just gave birth in April 2021 and started to have my period on the 22th July. After period i had intercourse protected (condom) and supposed to get my period back on the 19th August but now delay for 6 days. Im still breastfeed supplement with formula since birth. I checked UPT on the 4th day missed period and showed negative. Im scared if i got pregnant. Mind to share your thoughts? thanks

We understand that you are experiencing delayed period and are worried if you are pregnant. We will try to help you out.
For your information, irregular periods are normal after giving birth. This is because of the hormonal changes that take place in your body. It may take some time for your body to return back to your normal menstrual cycle.
However, even though condom is effective at preventing pregnancies, there is a possibility that you may be pregnant. We advice you to repeat UPT after a week and if this problem is prolonged, we advise you to refer to a doctor for further assessment.
