Hi there! Thank you for your question. To answer your question, fibroadenoma very rarely changes or increases your risk for breast cancer. A complex fibroadenoma increase your risk slightly. So, yes it is possible but it is very rare. Allow me to briefly explain briefly about fibroadenoma. Fibroadenoma is a benign breast growth that is due to enlargement of the breast lobules.

Breast lobules are the gland that is responsible for milk production during breast feeding. It the most common type of benign breast tumour. There are 2 types of fibroadenoma. Pericanalicular which typically occurs at the early reproductive life of a female. It usually occurs between 15-25 year old females. The other type is intracanalicular which typically occurs in an older group (30-50).

A breast lump is usually the symptom of fibroadenoma. The character of the lump are as follows. It is a freely mobile mass. Which means it can move around freely when you move it. I believe this is what you are experiencing. This is also known as a breast mouse. The mass is also painless.

The painless lump you have is highly suggestive of fibroadenoma as well. It is usually small about 2-3cm. Usually giant fibroadenoma that are more than 5cm occurs during puberty due to the hormonal changes. Speaking of hormonal changes, there usually will changes in size during menstruation, pregnancy and breast feeding. It is usually slow growing. It is usually smooth and rounded. Also there is almost usually no nipple discharge.

In cancer there will be other features such as such as skin changes (orange skin appearance, ulceration, swelling), nipple changes (bloody discharge, retraction, ulceration), pain (late presentation), constitutional cancer symptoms (weight loss, loss of appetite) and a faster growth rate. Cancer can also sometimes present with metastatic symptoms (when the cancer spreads). These symptoms include bone pain, breathlessness, coughing blood and so much more.
