Jantung Berdebar Laju + Kesukaran bernafas

Hi Doctor,

I’m a 20+s male. Since October 2020, I dapat rasakan degupan jantung saya berdegup laju out of sudden. Kejadian pertama berlaku apabila selepas saya makan. Degupan jantung saya berdegup kencang ditambah dengar kesukaran untuk bernafas and make me panic. Pada mulanya saya telah merujuk kepala clinic and GH at that time because I thought I have covid. But after checking, I am negative of covid. But that time, I did ask the doctor why did my heart heart fast out of sudden. And they doesn’t give a solid explaination and told me to relax and consume the medication only. After a week, at night the things happen again. I go directly to different clinic and explain the chronology. The doctor said that the previous clinic gave a wrong medication because I doesn’t have an asthma and the medication impact to the heart beat. And then he consult that this might happen to me because of kandungan acid dalam badan saya berlebihan and they gave me an injection and medication controlling my acid dalam badan. After a 10 days I came to follow up with the clinic as they told me to. But I been served with different doctor at that time. I explained my current situation because sometimes the heartbeat and hard to breath/ inhale happened. He said that this happen because of palpitation. He also advised me to lose weight and try to avoid carb because that time my weight almost 100 hundreds.

As advised, I control my carb diet and it’s already been almost 3 weeks. I managed to lose weight a few kgs. But along the way sometimes this heartbeat thing came out of sudden ( during exercise / wakeup from sleep / when I want to sleep / eating ) and it make me afraid and panic to do an exercise because Im scared that I will be short of breath. And recently I felt that my hands and legs numb frequently. My head at the top also sometimes felt dizzy and it might because of me stressed at the moment as currently I’m jobless.

I really hopes that you can advise me on this because Im afraid and feel a limitation of actives/work to do because of this.

Thanks Doc.

Greetings! Thank you for your questions.

First and foremost, we truly understand your concerns regarding your symptoms and other health problems you might be facing. For your information, cardiac arrhythmias, also known as irregular heartbeats or cardiac dyslexia, are a group of conditions in which the heartbeat is irregular, too slow, or too fast. Arrhythmias include slow heartbeat (bradycardia), fast heartbeat (tachycardia) and irregular heartbeat (fibrillation). The arrhythmia problem is not serious, some can damage individuals for stroke or cardiac arrest.

Any disruption to electrical impulses can result in arrhythmia. Several factors can cause the heart to malfunction, including:

  • Diabetes
  • Drug / alcohol abuse
  • Excessive coffee consumption
  • Heart disease such as congestive heart failure
  • Hypertension (high blood pressure)
  • hyperthyroidism / hypothyroidism
  • Mental stress
  • Heart scars, often the result of a heart attack
  • Smoking
  • Some supplements
  • Some herbal treatments
  • Some medicine
  • Changes in the structure of the heart

Symptoms of tachycardia are shortness of breath, dizziness, fainting / almost fainting, excessive chest pain and sudden weakness. Symptoms of bradycardia include chest pain, difficulty concentrating, confusion, difficulty exercising, dizziness, fatigue, palpitations, shortness of breath, fainting / almost fainting and sweating. The treatment of each type of arrhythmia is different. For bradycardia, the cause needs to be treated first. If no underlying problems are found, the doctor may advise a pacemaker implant. A pacemaker is a small device placed under the skin of the chest or abdomen to help control abnormal heart rhythms.
