Hi, thank you for your question.
Asymmetric left hypertrophy means that the walls of your left heart is enlarged and thickened. Someone is considered to have hypertrophy of cardiac muscles when the wall thickness is more than or equivalent to 1.5cm.

Borderline asymmetric left hypertrophy is when the wall thickness is between 1.3-1.4cm. This can be due to high blood pressure or heart problems, causing the heart to work harder. When the workload of the heart increases, heart muscles thicken and cause the heart to be stiff and weak.

As a result, blood supply to the heart is reduced, the heart is unable to pump enough blood to other parts of the body and you can develop complications, like arrhythmia (abnormal heart rhythm), ischaemic heart disease or stroke.

For some people, borderline asymmetric left hypertrophy can be reversed with the control of their blood pressure. Some blood pressure medications that help prevent further enlargement of your heart and may reverse hypertrophy are angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors, angiotensin II receptor blockers, beta blockers, calcium channel blockers and diuretics.

At the same time, you should make lifestyle changes. First of all, eat a healthy diet. Consume a low-fat, low-sodium diet. Also, you should exercise regularly. Aim to exercise for at least 30 minutes 5 times a week or do vigorous aerobic exercises 20 minutes 3 times a week. Maintaining a healthy weight is also important.

Keep your BMI <25 and waist circumference <40 inches (for men) or <35 inches (for women). Next, quit smoking and limit alcohol intake. Limit yourself to 2 drinks (for men) and 1 drink (for women) per day. Lastly, learn to cope with stress using techniques like meditation. You should also go for regular health screenings to keep high blood pressure and cholesterol under control.
