Dermatology: Skin Concerns

Hi Dr,

  1. My skin barrier was damaged by sun last year.

  2. Long recovery road using Avene and mild products

  3. Went to beauty saloon for facial, fibre facial cotton scraped my skin barrier and made it even more sensitive.

  4. cheeks been feeling tight and experience skin peeling. Used Cerave to repair skin barrier but skin still can’t lock in moisture. ie constantly dehydrated and tight even if I use HA/Squalane everyday.

  5. Searched online, other people with similar symptoms were prescribed oral meds like doxycycline hyclate by their dermatologist.

  6. MAIN QUESTION: Do dermatologists in Malaysia prescribe oral meds like Doxycycline, Compound Glycyrrhizin, Levocetirizine Hydrochloride Tablets?

First and foremost, we truly understand your concerns regarding your symptoms and other health problems you might be facing. From your complaints, your skin condition may have multifactorial causes such as:

  • Sunburn ’
This is the most common cause for skin peeling. Sunburn occurs due to prolonged exposure to ultraviolet rays from the sun without adequate protection (sunblock or sunscreen.) UV rays will kill your skin cells, which can cause redness and burning. Dead skin begins to peel off and new skin cells will replace it.

  • Burning Effects of Chemicals
It is another reason for skin peeling. Skin peeling is to get rid of damaged skin and may cause skin blisters before the skin begins to peel off.

  • Topical treatment
Topical treatments such as retinoids and benzoyl peroxide are the cause of exfoliating skin. This treatment, which is used to control acne and wrinkles, tends to cause dry skin and cause flaking.

  • Dryness
When your skin is dry, the top layer does not get enough hydration because it is exposed to cold weather. This will lead to the acquisition of premature skin cells, resulting in skin peeling.

  • Allergies
Allergic reactions can also cause the skin to flake off. You may be allergic to the product you are using and may not be aware of it.

  • Skin disease
Skin diseases such as eczema, psoriasis, and seborrheic dermatitis often result in itchy, sweaty skin that results in flaky skin. These inflammatory skin conditions may be chronic, and some of them may not be curable. However, they can be well controlled.
