Superficial hemangioma on baby

Dear Sir,

My 3m+ old baby has a superficial hemangioma on his forehead, just above (between eyebrows) line. The size is about 1cm, raised above skin about 3mm and it has strawberry-like shaped. We consulted skin specialist at our local clinic, and he recommended just to monitor and see the progress, also he suggested that it will take time to disappear.

Even though no complication so far, my concern is that my baby accidentally scratch the hemangioma and cause bleeding, that would further lead to other issues.

I’ve been reading about the use of Beta blocker drop such as Timolol Gel, need your advice on this, and can you suggest which to buy on your online pharmacy, I see there are a few different types.

Thank You.

Regards,

First and foremost, we truly understand your concerns regarding your child’s symptoms and other health problems he might be facing. As you have mentioned, you have consulted a dermatologist. The use of medications on infants are generally not advisable unless the benefits greatly outweighs the risks. Superficial hemangiomas are usually self-limiting. The rare complications that can happen are ulcer, bleeding, and infections. Ulcer being the most common one are usually seen when the hemangioma develops at the lower lips, neck, genital and anal areas or any surface where skin can have friction against each other. With regards to the location of the superficial hemangioma of your child, it is of low potential to produce these complications. It is best that you monitor this first before resolving to medications.
