The fourth-generation HIV self test kit

I had unprotected sex last December. It’s been 9 months from now. I was still scared I would have HIV. So I decided to buy the fourth-generation HIV self-test kit. I dropped 2 drops of blood. But, I realized I didn’t put much blood in it. It has a little tiny white area that didn’t cover. The blood area was covered by more than 70%. Then I dropped 2 drops of the buffer as instructed. I saw the control line appeared from an unclear red line to a visible red line after 20 minutes. AG and AB lines don’t show up in the entire process. No red or pinky line on these parts. Is this result is valid? Just I left a tiny white area in the sample area.

Hello!
Thank you for contacting us regarding your problem.

Based on your explanation, we understand that you’d like to know if the result shown on the HIV self-test kit is reliable. We will try to help you out.

For your information, the fourth-generation HIV self-test kit is highly accurate especially in detecting long-standing HIV infection. There are 2 possibilities for your situation,

1 . The results are inaccurate due to the incorrect method of usage.
2. The results are accurate and you are tested negative for HIV.

We advise you to retake the test following the instructions on the packaging to avoid any false results, or you may refer to a doctor for a more definitive clinical test for HIV. You can get a private online consultation with our doctors for further advice regarding this matter.

We hope that this answer has been helpful.
Thank you.
